These NHL Players Will Help You Win Your DraftKings Contests Tonight (February 9th)

We are officially in the dog days of hockey right now, but with all of the recent high scoring games, and significant NHL coach firings (like Boston’s coach getting canned hours before the Patriots’ Super Bowl victory parade) there’s certainly still lots of entertainment these days!

Tonight we have a busy Thursday with 11 games on the slate, so 22 teams will do battle against each other. We will see the Blues vs Maple Leafs, Kings vs Panthers, Sharks vs Bruins, Ducks vs Sabres, Predators vs Rangers, Islanders vs Flyers, Red Wings vs Capitals, Canucks vs Blue Jackets, Stars vs Senators, Penguins vs Avalanche, and Canadiens vs Coyotes. I think most of these games should be quite entertaining overall, but I’m most excited about the Stars vs Senators game from a fantasy perspective since both teams tend to give up lots of goals, and both teams can certainly score lots of goals too. A 6-5 final wouldn’t surprise me in the least.

If you are trying to decide which players to select tonight for your NHL daily fantasy sports contests on DraftKings, you have come to the right place. Below I list my favorite player for each position tonight based on the most fantasy points I feel can be earned at a salary that offers good value, and suggest other good player selections that fit that same criteria too. I include all player’s salaries for tonight as well.

Good luck everyone, may your lineups be hot, your fantasy points be high, and your earnings be amazing!

1. Goalie: My Pick – Braden Holtby ($8,500) – He is absolutely on fire right now with 8 wins in a row if you count the All Star games he shone in. He is coming off a 9.6 fantasy point shutout game of the Hurricanes, and could very well shut out the Red Wings tonight at home.

Other good options to consider: Henrik Lundqvist ($8,100), Robin Lehner ($7,500), and Sergei Bobrovsky ($8,300).

2. Defense: My Pick – Kris Letang ($6,000) – I like one of the top dmen in the league at this price compared to a Burns or a Karlsson at $8.5K and $7K respectively. Colorado are giving up 3.3 goals per game which is last in the league, they are 29th in shots against, and 29th in save percentage. The Penguins can score with the best of them and despite the Avalanche having a shut out last game, I don’t see positive results this time around in the mile high city with Crosby and company in town. Letang’s fantasy points have ranged from 5 to 6 over the past three games and his salary has remained flat so I like him as a high end value player tonight.

Other good options to consider: Seth Jones ($5,300), Matt Niskanen ($4,700), and Morgan Rielly ($4,200).

3. Center: My Pick – Patrice Bergeron ($6,500) – He had a bad start to the season, but is on fire now with 3 goals and 5 assists in his last 5 games, and went off last game vs Toronto for 10.5 fantasy points with a three point effort.

Other good options to consider: Tyler Seguin ($7,700), Evgeny Kuznetsov ($5,600), and Tyler Bozak ($4,700).

4. Winger: My Pick – Mitch Marner ($6,100) – The rookie of the month for January is going gang busters these days with a fantasy point range of 4 to 8.5 over his past 5 games. He scored last week vs St.Louis in Missouri, and I expect another strong outing tonight in Toronto.

Other good options to consider: Mike Hoffman ($5,700), Jamie Benn ($7,200), Evander Kane ($5,300), Brad Marchand ($7,100), J.T. Miller ($5,200), and Michael Grabner ($5,100).

5 DFS Predictions for 2017

sparkling trails of light drawing out the numbers 2017 in glowing light to welcome in the new year

The daily fantasy sports (DFS) industry is rapidly changing for many political and business reasons. We saw lots of interesting things happen in 2016, and I’m sure we will see even more radical changes in 2017.

Below I list 5 DFS predictions for 2017:

  1. The DraftKings (DK) and FanDuel (FD) merger won’t be approved by anti-trust regulators. These two companies combined make up approximately 95% of the industry, and so if these two join forces the unified company will hold a monopoly, and many entities such as governments and other competing companies won’t like it. If DK and FD can prove that the whole industry is dependent long-term on this monopoly being formed though however, then we could see the merger upheld. It will likely happen eventually, but maybe not in 2017 if legislation drags on.
  2. A good percentage of DFS users will get more serious about their research process, and how they place their bets and manage bankrolls. A high percentage of users have been reluctant to pay for DFS specific products, but if the entry losses get too big then an investment into DFS analytics and tools makes sense to increase positive cash flow, and save on research time. Otherwise quitting is an option too. Average users will get more and more sophisticated so the use of technology will play a more prominent role over time.
  3. Another country is added. So far DK and FD have allowed USA, Canada, and UK visitors to bet and participate. I think that more countries will realize how much they can make in initial and annual fees and taxes, and make deals. My guess is that at least one new European country joins forces with the DFS industry.
  4. We haven’t really seen it just yet, but I think that we will see ads within our favorite DFS apps and websites. New revenue streams will be established and developed in 2017, and one of them will be ad and sponsorship dollars.
  5. If the DK and FD merger goes through eventually, then I think the new company will go through an IPO event fairly quickly to become a publicly traded company. If this occurs then I will surely buy some stock as I’m quite bullish on the future of DFS.

DraftKings Hockey: These NHL Players Will Help You Win Your Contests Tonight For November 22nd

draftkings-nhl-november-22nd

The NHL season is slowly heating up now, it is giving fans lots of viewing entertainment, and fantasy poolies tons of enjoyment or pain depending on their team’s player injuries and performance.

Tonight we have just 5 games on the slate with the Blues vs Bruins, Hurricanes vs Maple Leafs, Senators vs Canadiens, Flyers vs Panthers, and Islanders vs Ducks. I think most of these games should be good overall, but I’m most excited about the Flyers vs Panthers from a fantasy perspective since both teams can rack up the goals. I would advise against taking a goalie in this game since it could be a 5-4 final, unless Roberto Luongo plays solid which is entirely possible.

1. Goalie: My Pick – Carey Price ($8,400) – It’s hard not to pick Price since he is clearly the best goalie in the world, and has stellar numbers with a record of 11-0-1, 1.6 GAA, .950 SV%, and 7.5 FPPG. If you want money in the bank go with Carey.

Other good options to consider: Cam Ward ($7,300), Jake Allen ($7,600), and Frederik Andersen ($7,700).

2. Defense: My Pick – Shea Weber ($7,100) – Has been brilliant so far this season with 7 goals and 8 assists in 19 games, and 4.4 FPPG. Is coming off a 9.5 FPTS night on Saturday vs Toronto with 2 assists, 3 shots on goal, and 8 shot blocks, wow! Don Cherry said a few years ago that if Shea played in Canada he would be winning Norris trophies, and now that he’s in Montreal that may be finally coming to fruition.

Other good options to consider: Radko Gudas ($4,000), Morgan Rielly ($4,800), and Keith Yandle ($5,100).

3. Center: My Pick – Nazem Kadri ($5,400) – I don’t like many of the center options for tonight, but I’m going with Kadri since his price tag isn’t too bad, and he has performed quite well at home this season. He consistently puts up 4 or 5 shots per night, and has 13 points in 18 games this season overall, 7 of those points being goals.

Other good options to consider: Brock Nelson ($4,800), Ryan Kesler ($6,100), and Victor Rask ($5,900).

4. Winger: My Pick – James van Riemsdyk ($6,000) – It seems a bit crazy to go with another Maple Leafs player, but JVR has been on fire at home lately with 10 points in his last 5 games at the ACC, and in those games had a tilt with 9.5 FPTS, and another with a massive 14.5 when he scored a hat trick vs Nashville just last week. He’s almost a point per game player, and has 4.3 fantasy points per game.

Other good options to consider: Vladimir Tarasenko ($7,600), Rickard Rakell ($6,300), and Mitch Marner ($6,300).

DraftKings Hockey: These NHL Players Will Help You Win Your Contests Tonight For November 3rd

nhl-on-the-map

The NHL season is nicely underway now, and there is no shortage of story lines to pay attention to including: Montreal being off to the best start in their illustrious franchise’s history, rookie Auston Matthews scoring 4 goals in his first ever game which is a new modern day NHL record, Dubnyk having three shut outs in a row, the Penguins picking up right where they left off after winning the Stanley Cup last season, and there are many others too.

Tonight we have 12 games on the slate with the Flyers vs Islanders, Maple Leafs vs Sabres, Oilers vs Rangers, Jets vs Capitals, Devils vs Panthers, Bruins vs Lightning, Canucks vs Senators, Blues vs Stars, Avalanche vs Blackhawks, Predators vs Coyotes, Penguins vs Kings, and the Flames vs Sharks. I think all of these games should be great, but I’m most excited about the Flames vs Sharks since I think there will be a bunch of goals, and be quite entertaining.

If you are trying to decide which players to select tonight for your NHL daily fantasy sports contests on DraftKings, you have come to the right place. Below I list my favorite player for each position tonight based on the most fantasy points I feel can be earned at a salary that offers good value, and suggest other good player selections that fit that criteria too. I include all player’s salaries for tonight as well.

Good luck everyone, may your lineups be hot, your fantasy points be high, and your earnings be amazing!

1. Goalie: My Pick – Braden Holtby ($8,300) – He has been dominant the past two games allowing just three goals combined for the wins, has a combined save percentage of .956, and had 9.6 and 6.2 fantasy points in each of the games. His opponent tonight is the Winnipeg Jets who are 9th in the league with 31.3 shots/game, but are only 23rd in goals scored with just 2.4.

Other good options to consider: Lundquist ($8,300), Schneider ($7,700), and Crawford ($8,200).

2. Defense: My Pick – Ryan McDonagh ($5,500) – He has points in 8 straight games, and with Yandle out of town and Boyle retired he gets loads of PP time now, and lots of puck touches. He’s always good for shots and blocked shots and I don’t think his point streak will end tonight vs Edmonton at home.

Other good options to consider: Boychuk ($5,200), Martinez ($4,600), and Gudas ($3,400).

3. Center: My Pick – Artem Anisimov ($5,800) – Is also on an 8 game point streak, and has 13 points during that torrid span including 7 goals. He currently is tied for the league lead in scoring and being on a line with P.Kane and Panarin he likely won’t slow down anytime soon.

Other good options to consider: Giroux ($6,900), Duchene ($6,500), and Richardson ($3,800).

4. Winger: My Pick – Chris Kreider ($6,700) – He currently has 1.5 PPG this season with 9 points in 6 games. 4 out of 6 of those games he has 2 points. He’s averaging 6.3 FPPG which is 1.2 fantasy points higher on average than the 2nd highest winger available for tonight. He is starting to become what the Rangers hoped he would become when they drafted him 19th overall in 2009.

Other good options to consider: Marchessault ($5,800), Nylander ($5,900), and Johansson ($4,700).
